Local School

Here's a pic of a giant chess set at my local school. It's well used by both students and teachers, but does need a bit of a clean. I think it's funny to watch little 7 year old kids playing with their teachers.

Massive chess board

Postby GameOn » Thu Dec 06, 2007 11:47 am

We had a big felt chess board in our class room in about 5th grade. The pieces were filled with sand and got over everything. This one looks crazy big. I'd bet the kids could ride those knights.

I look forward to seeing more pictures.

The pieces come up to just above my knee, so the kids are still able to move them around without any problem. If does need a bit of a clean these holidays. You can see where the pieces have been standing on the board during the rain.

I remember playing on a board like this at the Seaworld in San Diego, CA, USA. My dad and I would spend hours playing with random other people. Its crazy fun because everyone has a different strategy in mind.

That is brilliant! I wish we had that back when I was in school, I might have been good at chess! Chess is something kids rarely play but with pieces that size out in the playground, it could become a fun game to them! Thumbs up whoever thought of this idea.

That is so neat. We never did anything like this when I was in school. My son has had a big chess board and each player dressed up as a pawn and they played that way. It was really cute.

Aww, that's pretty cool. I've never seen them at schools before, but I worked at a camp that had a huge area for chess (and checkers and connect four, too), and all the kids seemed to love it.

Where in the world would you find such big chess pieces if you wanted to do something like this? I would have no clue where you would get the and would think that they might be somewhat pricey?
